We enjoy things that are well designed and made. We like to work with concrete due to the limitless applications it offers. Our construction backgrounds and specialized concrete training, from Fu-Tung Cheng in California, ensure quality products for discerning clients.

why concrete?

In a word? Freedom. Concrete is not bound to one shape, size or color and therefore gives you the freedom to create outside of conventional ideas. We value clothes, vehicles, and foods that are unique, well made and different from what everyone else has. Should your design options in your home be any different? Of course not. Once again concrete offers the freedom to create distinct statements in your home.

Like a well made pair of shoes, concrete will age and show some signs of it. Like the shoes, it ages gracefully and a patina will show through after some years. In the same manner that shoes are re-soled, concrete can be refinished to restore its original glory, but most people enjoy the look of the patina when it emerges. This aging does not take away from the structural integrity of the piece or the beauty, instead it lends an organic feel to the piece that you don’t get with other products.

No other product will give you the feeling of mass and presence like concrete does and yet the finished weight can be a lot less than you would think. We can make a lightweight product that is just as strong as regular concrete, this is ideal for reducing strain on your cabinets.  It is also beneficial for furniture pieces that you may want to move around.

Your finished product will be roughly 70% locally sourced material with the rest coming from either Canada or the USA.  Buying locally will help our city grow and cut down on emissions one more advantage of owning a beautiful object from konkret designs.
